Bungalow Owner Stories

My First Bungalow

My brother David, my Mother and I in my first home, a small Bungalow in Pennsylvania.

You might say my love for Bungalows started at birth. My parents' first home was a simple, one-bedroom, one-bath Bungalow and it is the first place I called home. Our cozy Bungalow had a large porch with a distant view of a river. I raised a family "playing house" on that porch and our family gathered there on summer evenings. My brother planted his first garden in the yard and painted the trim and the porch when he was only eight years old. One Christmas, he and Mom helped Santa by staying up most of the night putting together my doll house for Christmas morning. Although we occasionally had a baby sitter, our dog Lady is the one who kept a watchful eye on us and slept under our bunk beds at night. Every Saturday morning she would excitedly pace waiting for David to take her for her weekly walk. However, my fondest memory in our Bungalow was Friday nights. On Friday nights, Mom would settle into her large comfortable chair in the living room. She would hold David, David would hold me, I would hold Lady and somehow we still managed to hold a bowl of potato chips as we prepared to watch "I Remember Mama" and "The Life of Riley" on television. That one hour on Friday nights in our little Bungalow is how I remember my Mama. Now, many years later, this Bungalow inspired me to buy a Bungalow as my first home as well as to create this website and the next generation of Bungalows--"just big enough" to capture the memories you, your family and friends will treasure as you live "the Bungalow way of life."

The first home I purchased--a 1-1/2 story Bungalow.

Treasure Lake Bungalow

“Selecting Treasure Lake as the site for our vacation and retirement home made much more sense than purchasing property in the south as we originally planned. Our family loves golf and the beach. However, we really wanted something close by to use on weekends. When Elaine took us on a tour of the gated community of Treasure Lake, we were sold. Treasure Lake is beautiful and has everything we are looking for just a bit more than an hour from our home in State College. Elaine also introduced us to an extraordinary builder and together we are creating a gorgeous Bungalow, a style we absolutely love on a great lake view lot.”

Treasure Lake Bungalow

“We bought our Treasure Lake lot from Elaine two years ago and planned to build our vacation home in about five years. With interest rates at record lows, we decided to take equity from our home and build now. It’s a win-win situation because with rates so low, we are only adding a few hundred dollars to our current mortgage and getting a vacation home that our kids can enjoy now while they are young and, when they grow up, they can bring their kids. No time like the present to start 'building' those family memories.”
